Terms of service

The basis on which this website is offered and on which editorial engagements are agreed.

Status: Starter text. This page must be reviewed by the business owner and a qualified legal adviser for the jurisdictions it operates in before launch. Items marked “to be confirmed” depend on business decisions that have not been made yet.

Using this website

The guides and pages on this website are general information about academic publishing. They are not legal, medical, statistical, or publisher-specific advice, and they may not reflect a particular journal’s current requirements. Always check your target journal’s instructions and the relevant official sources.

How engagements are agreed

Each project is agreed separately in a written proposal setting out the scope, deliverables, responsibilities, estimated timeline, and fee. Work begins only after you accept it. The proposal, together with these terms, forms the agreement. Payment terms, cancellation, and refund arrangements are to be confirmed and will be stated in each proposal.

No guarantee of publication

Editorial support can improve clarity and preparation. Publication decisions belong to journal editors and reviewers. We do not guarantee acceptance, publication dates, indexing in any database, impact factors, citations, or any reviewer’s view.

The author’s responsibility

  • Authors remain responsible for their research, data, analysis, interpretation, conclusions, authorship, and final submission.
  • Authors review and approve every editorial change and every statement in a response to reviewers.
  • Authors are responsible for complying with their journal’s, institution’s, and funder’s policies, including any requirement to acknowledge editing assistance.

Work we will not accept

We will not accept, and may end, any engagement that involves fabricating or falsifying data or citations, producing work to be submitted as someone else’s own, misrepresenting authorship, or misleading editors or reviewers. See our research integrity principles.

Confidentiality and ownership

Your manuscript and research remain yours. We treat project materials as confidential and use them only to deliver the agreed work. Specific storage, retention, and deletion arrangements are agreed for each project before files are shared.

Liability

Limitations of liability, governing law, and dispute resolution are to be confirmed with legal advice for the jurisdictions in which the business operates.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force when you accept a proposal applies to that engagement.
